Certified Positive Trainer and Behavior Expert

Trail Dog Training Co. founder Leanna Rizzo is a certified Positive Reinforcement Dog Trainer and Behavioral Consultant based in Lakewood, California. After beginning her professional work with dogs in 2014, she transitioned into training in 2020 and founded Trail Dog Training Co. in 2021 with a mission to provide humane, science-based training and support for dogs and their humans across Southern California.

Leanna earned her Advanced Dog Trainer Certification through Zoom Room in 2024, became an AKC™ Approved Evaluator in 2025, and became a member of IAABC in 2026. She continues to expand her expertise in behavior modification and rehabilitation. She also assists her mentor trainer with structured pack walks throughout Orange County, helping dogs build real-world skills, neutrality, and confidence in outdoor environments.

Specializing in reactive and aggressive dogs, Leanna is passionate about helping misunderstood dogs navigate their big feelings, build confidence, and safely experience more freedom in everyday life and outdoor adventures. Her training philosophy centers on clear communication, compassion, and building trust through positive reinforcement and relationship-based training.

When she’s not working with clients, Leanna is outdoors with her own crew: Dova, a sweet Pitbull/Husky mix; Barbas, a spirited Chihuahua; two cats; and a lizard. Living with a diverse pack of rescued animals has given her firsthand understanding of the patience, adaptability, and empathy required to build harmony between animals and their people.
