What is Positive Reinforcement Dog Training?
Positive Reinforcement Dog Training (R+) is a science-based approach that teaches dogs without the use of punishment or aversive techniques—meaning no tools or methods that cause pain, fear, or discomfort.
Research shows that dogs trained using R+ not only retain lessons more effectively, but also build stronger bonds with their humans, show greater enthusiasm for learning, and experience fewer behavior issues related to stress or fear during training.
It's not just effective—it’s ethical, empowering, and rooted in trust.

What is your education background?
I began my formal dog training journey in 2020 under the guidance of a Force-Free Trainer based in Santa Monica and later mentored under one of her students. Currently, I continue to expand my skills working with a trainer in Orange, CA.
In 2024, I earned my Advanced Dog Trainer certification through Zoom Room, followed by AKC™ Evaluator certification in 2025. I am committed to ongoing education and regularly study through organizations like the IAABC Foundation. I am also preparing to take the CPDT-KA certification exam in 2025.

Do you have any restrictions on age/breed?
Trail Dog Training Co. welcomes dogs of all ages and breeds, provided they are physically healthy enough to participate and will benefit from our training services.
-
What do I need for training?
For your first session, I recommend bringing high-value treats, basic walking gear, and comfortable shoes.
At Trail Dog Training Co., we do not use prong collars, e-collars, choke chains, or slip leads. Instead, we suggest gentle, effective alternatives like front-clip harnesses and gentle leaders to ensure a positive and humane training experience.
